Food and Drinks for Valentine’s Day

I recently wrote a post about date ideas for Valentine’s Day and one of them was a night in with dinner and drinks. I figured I’d share some ideas in case you want to go that route but aren’t quite sure where to start.

White Cheddar Mac and Cheese with lobster. The white cheddar mac and cheese is a recipe from Real Girl’s Kitchen and I just bought lobster meat and added it in. I got the idea from a place called The Pump Station in Albany, NY. They had lobster mac and cheese and I would order it pretty much everytime I went there. It actually came out really good and was quite a bit cheaper to make then ordering it out. It also wasn’t too time consuming so it can be done rather quickly if you don’t have a lot of time.

Cheesecake, which I don’t think you can go wrong with, in a heart shaped springform pan so it’s Valentine’s theme. The recipe is linked but you can also find it on the inside of the Philadelphia cream cheese packages. I normally just make it plain and honestly think it is the best cheesecake but of course you could add a topping of your choice if you choose. This is a little time consuming though, so you will want to make sure you have time or perhaps make it a night or two before if need be.

This 40 Cloves and a Chicken recipe is amazing. I’ve never made it for Valentine’s Day but my momma used to make it for me when I would visit her and it is so good. She would make roasted asparagus with it and I really enjoyed it. I think this would be a great Valentine’s Day dinner, as long as you have the time. I think it says you have to bake it for an hour and a half so it’s not the quickest but well worth it, if time allows.

Lasagna is a pretty good way to go as well. It’s another one that takes a bit more time but it could be made in advance and it freezes really well so if you have leftovers it can be frozen and saved for later.

Pizza is a sure fire winner no matter who you are. You can make it all kinds of way to please pretty much anybody and I believe you can also order pizza and some places will make it heart shaped. I did not link a recipe because there are so many different ways to make every part of a pizza and in case you don’t feel like cooking there is always delivery.

Lemon pound cake is another really good dessert idea. My boyfriend likes lemon so I made one for him last year and it turned out pretty well. The linked recipe is not the exact one I used but it’s very close.

I’m going to do a few drink recipes here. I did a post last Friday that had a whole bunch of drink recipes so you can always look at that but I’m going to link to a few here that I really like.

Cosmopolitan. I LOVE cosmos and they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day with their pinkish reddish color.

Bellini. I chose this drink because they’re delicious but also because I like to have some type of bubbly on Valentine’s Day (any day actually) but especially on “special” occasions.

13 Pink Drink recipes. Here’s a list labeled for “Galentine’s Day” but if you’re celebrating with a partner or solo they’ll be just fine for that as well.

Hope you enjoy some of these recipes or they give you some inspiration for what you want to do. If you try anything or have something you make every year please let me know in the comments!

Cheesecake is a big favorite of mine – if you don’t have a heart pan, you can always add some strawberries on top or strawberry jello so that it’s red and white!

My husband is a drink master and one of my goals is to learn to make and make a drink for him as a surprise, so your suggested drinks are great for my research and practice. Thank you.
